UPDATE: PayPal is live! Check this video if you need help setting it up!
Just head on over to Settings > Payments, and click on PayPal to set it up. If you have a PayPal Business account, you’ll be prompted to sign in when you enter your email address, otherwise you’ll be prompted to create an account.
We’ve had more than a dozen different clients who loved Squarespace but had to shy away from it because they only wanted to use PayPal. For those of you who don’t already know, up until now, Squarespace only had support for Stripe. So if you sold products on your Squarespace website, you could only get paid through Stripe. With PayPal being one of the most common payment methods, everyone was constantly berating Squarespace in the forums about it’s lack of common sense. It’s finally time that we started being able to use PayPal with Squarespace!
This morning we got an email that may put some of you at ease.
In the next week or so, we will move our newest feature, PayPal, into public beta. This integration has been long in the making, and we wanted you to be among the first to know.
PayPal is a secure, trusted and convenient payment option that will integrate seamlessly in checkout for Online Stores. It can be enabled in a few steps. To complete setup, merchants will need to connect their PayPal Business account. If they don’t have one yet, they can create a new one in the setup flow.
Once PayPal is live in beta, we will provide another update with more details about the integration and how to share feedback.
What Does This Mean?
As the email mentions, PayPal public beta should be rolling out in the next week or so. Everyone will have access to PayPal when it goes live and it’s our theory that implementing it will be as easy as signing into your account, just like Stripe. The settings page on Squarespace will have a form you can fill in to create a PayPal Business account if you don’t have one already (again, just like Stripe).
We’ll update this post as we learn more so stay tuned!
